Our Approach

  • Reforestation and Rewilding

Our first intervention site is in the Sunderbans region (one of the world's largest mangrove forests) of West Bengal, India. We propose to rewild degraded mangrove forests and mud flats in the Sunderbans through the participation of 5,000 local women, through partner NGOs with whom we have exclusive working arrangements.

    Key Benefits:

High-Value Carbon Credits: By planting and nurturing mangrove forests, we generate carbon credits that are verified and certified, offering a high return on investment for stakeholders.

Biodiversity Conservation: Mangroves provide habitats for diverse wildlife, contributing to the preservation of endangered species.

Community Engagement: Our projects involve local communities, providing employment opportunities and enhancing livelihoods through sustainable practices.

  • Deep Sea Carbon Burial

Most of the world's biomass, especially forestry and agricultural waste, is either left to decompose or burnt. This releases carbon back into the atmosphere in a very short time. We propose to collect this biomass and bury it permanently in the depths of the earth. By mimicking nature's methods of transport and deposition, we have identified the most favourable locations for biomass burial in the Indian Ocean region.

    Key Benefits:

Permanent Carbon Sequestration: Deep sea burial ensures long-term storage of carbon, significantly reducing atmospheric CO2 levels.

Utilization of Biomass Waste: This approach provides a sustainable solution for biomass waste management, avoiding harmful emissions from burning.

Scalability: Our strategy is designed to be scalable, allowing for large-scale implementation and substantial carbon reduction.

  • Microbial Carbon Capture

Deep Carbon will leverage the natural carbon absorption capabilities of microbes and minerals. Using local resources, we propose to harvest fast-growing microbes to capture carbon and blend this with minerals. Just as it happens in nature. We will speed up nature's processes by using existing technologies, while ensuring that the carbon we capture stays trapped for thousands in deep soil and sediments of lakes and seas.

    Key Benefits:

Natural Carbon Absorption: Microbes play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle, absorbing CO2 through photosynthesis.

Enhanced Carbon Sequestration: By promoting microbial growth and blending them with minerals, we can significantly enhance natural carbon sequestration processes.

Building Ecosystem Resilience: TOur approach restores and improves soil and sediment microbiomes thus promoting biodiversity and enhancing the health of land and marine habitats.

  • Setting Industry Standards

Deep Carbon is committed to setting high standards in the carbon capture industry. We help partners design efficient carbon capture interventions. We also provide technical support in inspection, verification, testing, and certification, to improve Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) protocols and services. Our efforts aim to provide transparency, accuracy, and reliability in carbon capture projects we undertake.

    Key Benefits:

Transparency and Credibility: Our partnership with SGS ensures that our carbon capture processes and credits are rigorously verified, enhancing credibility and trust in the market.

Industry Leadership: By setting high standards and providing reliable MRV services, we lead the industry in establishing best practices and benchmarks for carbon capture.

Compliance and Reporting: Our MRV services help clients comply with regulatory requirements and accurately report their carbon capture achievements, facilitating market participation and investment.
